Any domain purchased in our panel can initially be registered with generic DNS (example: a.auto.dns.br and b.auto.dns.br) to allow the registration to be completed and the order’s initial propagation.
For the website and email to work properly, it is mandatory to change these DNS and point the domain to the correct DNS cluster of your hosting control panel.
1) When do I need to change the DNS
- If your order or Registro.br shows something like a.auto.dns.br and b.auto.dns.br.
- If the domain was purchased but you have not yet added it to the panel (cPanel, DirectAdmin, or Plesk) and the site does not resolve.
- If the domain is pointing to DNS different from your current panel.
Attention: when you change the DNS, propagation may take from a few minutes up to 24 hours (in some cases, up to 48 hours), depending on the provider and your ISP cache.
2) Find out which hosting control panel you use
You need to choose the correct DNS according to the panel where your website and email will be hosted. Below are Napoleon’s official DNS clusters for each type of panel.
DNS clusters by panel
DirectAdmin
Access: https://dnspro.net.br/
cPanel
Access: https://dnspro.com.br/
Plesk
Access: https://dns-pro.com.br/
Inside your panel link, you will see the correct Nameservers to copy and paste into your registrar.
3) Before changing the DNS, validate this checklist
- Confirm which panel you use: cPanel, DirectAdmin, or Plesk.
- If possible, add the domain in the panel (example: in cPanel under “Domains” or “Addon Domains”, in DirectAdmin under “Domain Setup”, in Plesk under “Websites & Domains”).
- Open your panel’s DNS cluster and copy the exact Nameservers.
Tip: copy and paste is the best way. One wrong character in the Nameserver prevents correct propagation.
4) How to change the DNS at Registro.br (national domains)
- Go to the Registro.br website and log in.
- Open the domain list and click the desired domain.
- Find the DNS or DNS Servers section.
- Replace the current DNS (example: a.auto.dns.br and b.auto.dns.br) with the Nameservers from the correct cluster for your panel.
- Save the changes.
5) How to change the DNS at international registrars
For .com, .net, .org, and others, the change is usually done on the registrar’s website where you purchased the domain. The path is typically “Domain Settings”, “DNS”, “Nameservers”, or “Manage DNS”.
- Log in to the registrar where the domain is registered.
- Open the domain management page.
- Look for Nameservers and select the option to enter them manually.
- Enter the Nameservers from your panel’s cluster (cPanel, DirectAdmin, or Plesk).
- Save.
6) How to know if it has propagated
- If the domain opens the correct website in the browser.
- If emails start working normally, when applicable.
- If, when checking the domain, the Nameservers shown are those from your panel’s cluster.
Common mistakes
- Switching to the wrong cluster (example: using cPanel when your hosting is DirectAdmin).
- Entering an incomplete Nameserver or one with an extra space.
- Changing DNS and expecting it to work immediately, without propagation time.
7) Need help
If you don’t know which panel you are using, open a ticket including:
- The domain you purchased.
- A screenshot or the list of the current Nameservers.
- The hosting service you contracted (your plan).
